Louis van Gaal insists Manchester United have had 'a very good year' in 2015.
Louis van Gaal has claimed that 2015 was 'a very good year' for Manchester United – if you ignored the final month of December.
Van
Gaal seems to have rediscovered his mojo following Monday night's
goalless draw against Chelsea even though they face Swansea on Saturday
without a win in eight matches – their worst run since 1990.
Banishing
talk a week ago of resignation, his New Year's message to the United
faithful was one of improvement having been made under his regime.
I think we
fulfilled our wishes and aims in the first season (2014-15). After that
we have managed to give balance to the team and earlier in the season,
we were top,' said the Dutchman.

'Then
we went out of the Champions League and that gave us a big blow. When
you don't assess December it was a very good year, 2015. But you can not
do that because a year has 12 months.'

The
finished fourth in May but were eliminated in the FA Cup at home to
Arsenal after defeating two lower-league teams. This season, they are
outside the top four and have been eliminated from the Champions League
and Capital One Cup, the latter by Championship side Middlesbrough.
Even so, LVG is pushing that his side have been unlucky in certain games including the most recent draw against Chelsea.
'I
think we have played many matches like that. The way we played this
season, we have been more or less the dominant team. We are mostly
always pressing. Our problem is not to dominate, but to score.
'Goals
are the most important thing because then you can continue in your
mind, your mental state. But I was surprised by the (good) performance
because of the big pressure on the players.
