Man who forced girlfriend to walk through New York streets naked filmed the moment
The
boyfriend accused of choking and hitting his girlfriend before forcing
her to walk through the streets naked has released a bizarre video which
shows him handing himself over to the police.
Jason
Melo, 24, who appeared in court yesterday charged with assault and
endangering a child, can be seen smirking as he calls cops form a bodega
in the Bronx telling them to come and arrest him.
In
the footage, filmed on Wednesday evening when he was arrested, Melo
later calls friends from prison to accuse his girlfriend of lying about
being beaten, claiming he never hit her or strangled her.
Melo
even says that detectives at the jail have congratulated him for his
actions, before trying to justify himself by repeating claims that she
was talking with other men.
The
video emerged after Melo's 22-year-old girlfriend spoke out yesterday,
saying he beat her in front of their two-month-old child before
threatened to slash her face and push her down the stairs, then making
her walk around their block naked.
In a
bizarre five-minute clip, which emerged on Facebook today, Melo says in
Spanish: 'My people I apologize, I see what she said and I want you to
know she is lying.
'There is no proof of what the reports here at prison says, that I strangled her and that I hit her.
In

'I didnt hit
her or anything. Even the detectives are here with me and some of them
congratulated me because they see how happy she is and I didn't pull her
hair or anything.
'Some of the other prisioners are also on my side and they say some of them would have done worse things.'
Melo also says he is collecting signatures on a petition for his freedom, adding that this is not 'a matter of death or murder'.
